Sony Mobile Officially Announces the Xperia C3, the “World’s Best Selfie Smartphone”

Sony Mobile has officially taken the wraps off its latest smartphone, the Xperia C3. Just as rumoured earlier this morning, Sony has dubbed the Xperia C3 the “world’s best selfie smartphone”, featuring a 5MP wide-angle camera with LED flash.
In fact, Sony has also labelled the Xperia C3 as the “PROselfie” smartphone. Naturally, the draw of the Xperia C3 lies with the device’s imaging properties. While the 8MP Exmor RS sensor is pretty much standard for a mid-range device such as the Xperia C3, the front-facing camera is a totally different affair. Sporting a 5MP front-facing sensor with a 80-degree field of view, this camera is also equipped with a “soft” LED flash as well as a whole collection of “selfie apps”.

Previously only reserved for the main camera, the Xperia C3′s front-facing camera features the Superior Auto mode, which recognises four scene types on the front shooter and adjusts the settings automatically for better shots in any lighting situation. There’s also Portrait Retouch v.2, which adjusts your selfies in real-time before capturing an image, while other apps for the main camera such as Timeshift-Burst and AR Effect are also available for the front-facing camera for the Xperia C3. Even HDR mode can be activated for both cameras!

Beyond that, the Xperia C3 appears to be a slightly larger version of the Xperia M2 Dual which appeared earlier this year. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 305 GPU, the Xperia C3 also packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, while the microSD card slot supports up to 32GB cards. Below the large front camera is a 5.5-inch 720p display, featuring Sony’s Triluminos display for mobile and Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. The Xperia C3 will also pack a 2500mAh with Battery STAMINA Mode 3.0, and the device weighs 150g and measures 7.6mm thick.
Also important to note is the fact that the Xperia C3 will run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and is an LTE-enabled device. It is also a dual-SIM smartphone, which is perfect for its first market that it will be available in – China. Other international markets will follow, with Sony pegging a global rollout in August this year. The Xperia C3 will be available in Black, White and Mint.
