Nintendo Initial Shipment of 400,000 3DS Almost All Sold in One Day

The 3D mode in Nintendo 3DS may not be suitable for children under the age of 6, and 3D has been known to cause dizziness and even headache on certain people but that doesn’t stop people from getting what they want. The 3DS is now on sale, in Japan only of course – what were you expecting? – and in just one day from opening to closing time, the company has already sold off nearly all of its initial shipment of 400,000 units!

Now who says people only queue up for Apple products such as the iPhone? The iPhone may be commonly used as a gaming device but that doesn’t mean it can kill off the existing portable game consoles. The queues were reported to have gone up to as long as 2,000 people. Are you as excited about the 3D glasses-free portable gaming console from Nintendo as the Japanese? Will you go all out – like queuing for hours – just to be one of the first to get your hands on the 3DS? You know what? I just might. Each 3DS is currently for sale in Japan for 25,000yen (approximately RM947) and will be launched in the U.S. on 26 March for USD$250.
