Samsung Officially Unveils Galaxy Tab, Heading To Europe First

Samsung has finally uncovered its first ever tablet – the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab – at IFA 2010 earlier today, nine days after the release of the device’s official teaser video. Powered by a Cortex A8 1.0GHz application processor, the unveiling serves as official confirmation of all the features were already listed inside the teaser video such as Android 2.2, PC-like web browsing, full Flash 10.1 support, video calls and plenty of other multimedia-related capabilities.

“Samsung recognizes the tremendous growth potential in this newly created market and we believe that the Samsung GALAXY Tab brings a unique and open proposition to market. There is a new and emerging consumer demand that Samsung can satisfy since mobile is in our DNA. This demand continues to grow and develop as users tap its limitless potential,” – JK Shin, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.
Did we mention that the Galaxy Tab also has voice telephony capability via speakerphone or Bluetooth headset? Potential, alright. Whether it is actually able to go against head to head against the mighty iPad (its inevitable, really), your guess is as good as mine.

The device will be released in Europe in the middle of this month while the rest of the world will follow suits in months to come. Jump in for one more official product shots and the full specification sheet.
